How do we know that the death of Jesus did the work of paying the debt of our sin and reconciling us to God? Jesus got back up. His resurrection is the proof that it worked! The end goal is not disembodied souls in Heaven. it is the redemption of all creation in the new heavens and new earth. Jesus resurrection is the deposit of that reality.
