Psalm 24
Vs 1-2 The size and power of a god was reflected in the size and power of the nation that served it. David says that YHWH is the lord of all creation, not just Israel.
Vs 3-6
In light of his sovereignty, who can approach him? All reference to a raised place (holy hill, mount of God, etc.) is a reference to where God lives and where we come to sacrifice to him.
Only the person who has pure actions (clean hands), pure affections (heart), trusts in God (lift up my soul), commitment to truth (speaks).
The emphasis in the Mosaic paradigm is that I must be righteous in order to get to God, but David hints at the Gospel in saying we will receive righteousness from God.
Vs 7-10
We are excited and full of celebration because we can approach God. The city itself celebrates.
This Psalm was written for the occasion of the ark of the covenant returned to Jerusalem. David is referencing the presence of God entering to the city.
